Having been established with a key goal of the promulgation of the SPAW Protocol, Monitor Caribbean has contributed to the work of the Caribbean Environment Programme as Secretariat to the Cartagena Convention, administered by the UN Environment, and the development and implementation of the Protocol in various ways in the past, including the effort to translate the nomenclature of listed species in the SPAW Protocol Appendices into other languages.
Other efforts have included building awareness with Wider Caribbean states on the value and benefits of ratification of the SPAW Protocol.
