Conserving the Wider Caribbean Region
Mission
Monitor Caribbean seeks to promote and implement wildlife conservation projects across the Wider Caribbean, including by directly supporting the work of the Convention for the Protection and Development of the Marine Environment of the Wider Caribbean Region, and its Protocol concerning Specially Protected Areas and Wildlife (SPAW).

Background
Monitor Caribbean was founded by Milton M. Kaufmann in the late 1970s with a mission to conserve and promote the natural resources of the Wider Caribbean through the promulgation of the SPAW Protocol. Bob Ragan took over the presidency of Monitor Caribbean in 2011 and led the organization until 2020. Under Bob’s presidency Monitor Caribbean achieved 501(c)(3) non-profit status with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. Bob continues to serve on the Board of Directors as President Emeritus.
